Social Justice.....now Social Promotion????

Hello, all! Time for another trip into the world of common sense. I read a couple of stories in the newspaper today that got me thinking. Some thoughts about one of them.
Headline reads Saving Seattle . The story concerns a young man, Seattle Nelson, who was a seventh grader at one of the Middle schools IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. The second paragraph, which is what caught my attention, reads as follows:

As a seventh grader at River Ridge Middle school, Seattle had missed 61 days. He made straight
F's, but still advanced to the eighth grade in the name of social promotion. At 6 feet 4 and 220 pounds, he could be frightening to younger students.

Did this paragraph make you say the same thing I did when I read it?? This guy has missed ONE THIRD OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, OBVIOUSLY CAN'T READ OR WRITE BUT HE STILL GETS PUSHED THROUGH THE SYSTEM!! Social promotion??????? Is that democrat for "not wanting to teach kids how to perform basic skills that they will DEFINITELY need if they graduate"?

Some of you may not catch the importance of this action but, you see, this crap happens to thousands of black kids every year!! There is enough blame for everyone involved: parents who refuse to take an active role in their kid's education, kids who refuse to understand that this is their future being thrown away, teachers who are more interested in making as much money as possible than the welfare of the young brains entrusted to them and, finally, a school system that is sorry enough to let something like this happen under their noses. No child should get passed through school, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, without being able to read, write and perform basic math skills!

For my black friends, who may stumble in and read this article, this is what Social Justice looks like!! Are you sure you want your kids "pushed through" without an education just so they can keep up with the other kids? Are you sure you want them to be constantly turned down for entry level jobs because they have a diploma but can't read? Are you sure that this social promotion thing is right for your child's education?

Now, Seattle got lucky! Somebody adopted him and busted his butt until he graduated from high school with flying colors! Do you think your kid will get lucky?

Just remembering!

Hello, people! I don't have a post this week, just a thought for you to ponder. Has anyone else noticed that the more information that comes out about the Trayvon Martin shooting, the less you hear from MSNBC, Chris Matthews, Jackson and Sharpton?? There have been NO reports whatsoever on the major networks since the court documents showed up. Remember when it first came out? You couldn't go five minutes without seeing an update. Now it seems that we have gone about five weeks without a peep! I think we have found a new insect repellent that works pretty good on liberals: It's called TRUTH! Drives them away every time!!
Until next week when I return from a brief vacation.
